How many tens and hundreds in a whole number
Working with place value in whole numbers
In this unit students reinforce their understanding of how many ones, tens, hundreds and thousands are in a whole number. In the first activity, students show how many tens or hundreds there are in given numbers by writing the answers on number fans or on 'number machines'. The second and third activities require students to calculate the total amount of money each piggy bank or person has from the description of denominations. The answers are provided.
