How many tens and hundreds are in thousands
The bugs and birds in the activities in this unit help students understand place value patterns and grouping through repetition and visual cues. In Activity 1, students need to fill in the missing numbers on each bug's wings. In the first wing, they write the number of hundreds that are on the bug's body and on the second wing they write the number of tens. In Activity 2, students have to work back the other way. That is, the number of hundreds and tens are shown on the birds' wings. Students have to write the whole number the birds should have on their bodies.
