Introducing grouping (2)
The two activities in this unit are repeated to reinforce grouping in 2s, 5s and 10s separately. In the first activity students need to continue counting birds on a branch that someone has already started counting. The first task deals with birds grouped in twos, the second task covers groupings of five and the final task looks at groupings of ten. In the second activity, students follow the same process to calculate how far a swimmer has to swim based on the balls on the lane ropes. This is a handy unit for introducing grouping thanks to the provided visual supports.
