Use compensation to solve multiplication problems (Part B)
In this unit, students reinforce solving multiplication problems by rounding a number down to the nearest tidy number and then adding the difference to the sum. The first activity steps students through this process with structured answer templates, while the second, third and fifth tasks are word problems that include room for students to show their working. Activity four includes a match-up exercise in which students need to draw links between parts of the same problem and then answer a pictorial problem.
