Solve multiplication problems using compensation (A)
Students will follow a "taking some off and putting some on" strategy to solve a series of multiplication word problems. Following this, they will use their knowledge of smaller multiplication facts to solve larger and harder multiplication facts with the assistance of a template. Their learning is then scaffolded as they will solve similar problems without the assistance of a template. Finally students will apply the compensation strategy to solve a word problem and calculate how long it will take to make a given number of sheds!
