Subtraction problems using strategy (B)
Throughout this unit students will practice breaking a whole number apart using place value to solve a series of subtraction equations, with the assistance of a number line. The students understanding is then tested as they will need to apply the same strategy to new questions without the assistance of a number line. Students will then apply their understanding in order to determine whether the strategy can or can't be used to solve an equation. If the student uses the strategy, they will need to justify and explain their use!
