Read a thermometer

Students learn to read and to record temperature on a thermometer in this unit. Two tasks in this unit ask students to fill in the missing numbers on some thermometers before circling the given temperatures. These exercises are followed by word problems. Students then have the opportunity to put their understanding into a local context by recording the highs and lows for their area for a week on the given thermometers and working out the difference the temperature difference each day. In the last activity, students use the internet to find out about the temperature each day in a week for Scott Base.
