Find the area of shapes

This unit if a great introduction to finding the area of shapes. In the first activity, students colour the floor tiles at the bottom of the page and cut them out. They then stick the tiles on to the floor plan of each given shape and complete the sentence about that shape, e.g. "This rectangle take ___ tiles." The second activity follows the same process but this time the tiles are triangular instead of square.
