Multiplication and division problems
Students learn to use place value to solve problems by expanding the factors to add like values. For example, 69 x 3 can be simplified to (60 x 3) + (9 x 3). Students' understanding of this strategy is assisted by the layout of steps and then applied to word problems. Answers are provided.
