Strategies to find a fraction of a set

In this unit students learn to find a fraction of a set using Multiplication & Division. The first task requires students to work out a 1/3, a 1/4, a 1/5 and an 1/8 of given whole numbers. Next students need to fill the gaps in division equations (e.g., 1/8 of __ is 6) and multiplication problems. Page two contains more multiplication problems as well as some true/false equations under which students need to write their reasoning for their answer. The final tasks in this unit require students to complete tables with fractions within the context of word problems.
