Find a fraction of a set of objects

In this unit students learn to recognise a fraction of a set of objects by equal sharing. In the first task, students complete the word sentences based on the images. For example, image one shows 5 carrots, one of which is grey. The sentence reads ' ___ out of 5 is grey. 1/5 is grey.' Task two follows a similar pattern except that students must colour in a specified number of objects in a set, then complete the sentences. In the final activity students need to identify the given fractions in a set and write the corresponding fraction names or symbols .
