Adjust to the nearest hundred to solve problems
Students learn to solve addition and subtraction problems by adjusting one number to the nearest hundred in this unit. For example, if the problem was 99 + 76 = ___, students would add +1 to 99 to make 100, then -1 from 76 to make 75, then total 100 + 75; a much easier equation to solve! Two exercises in this unit provide number line visual support.
