In this unit, students receive plenty of opportunities to practice identifying the value of ones, tens, hundreds and thousands. The first task asks students to identify the value of the underlined numeral in four digit numbers. The cute pictures in this task add to its appeal! In activity two, students write the expanded form of the 4 digit number showing on each caterpillar. The final task in this unit is a thousands table in which students write the expanded form of 5 digit numbers.
