Identifying and making whole tens
This unit is packed with different activities to practise making whole tens. On the first page students complete sums so they total 20 or 30, before colouring the fish that have 'whole ten equations'. The following page contains further equations, but this time the sums range from 20 to 90. students then need to create their own equations that must use ___ +4 or ___ + 5 to make whole tens. More fish colouring, this time colour-coded sums, and a lizard wordfind extend students skills from addition to subtraction. The final activity in this unit requires students to 'fish' for whole tens within an equation, before adding a third addend and completing the calculation.
