Working with """"teen"""" and """"ty"""" numbers

A variety of activities to assist students in recognising numbers that end in 'teen' and numbers that end in 'ty'. The first activity in this unit requires students to recognise these numbers in their number name form and vice versa. The second task is a delightful one in which students have to colour code bags of wool based on which sheep the wool has come from; the 'ty' sheep or the 'teen' sheep. In the final exercise, students draw and/or write the missing image, number or number name as appropriate.

As schools work through ongoing curriculum changes, Jackie is particularly passionate about creating resources that help teachers make sense of new expectations and confidently support learning so that students experience success in the classroom. Outside of education, Jackie’s greatest joy has been watching her own children grow up and begin to spread their wings.

Suzi de Gouveia is an accomplished educator with over 40 years of teaching experience. After spending 18.5 years as principal of St Teresa’s School in Christchurch, New Zealand, she had a brief retirement before realising this lifestyle wasn’t for her. Missing the vibrant energy and daily action of the classroom, she has returned to teaching part-time. Throughout her career, Suzi has developed a wealth of innovative ideas and resources dedicated to enhancing students’ learning. She continues to bring that same passion and expertise to the school environment today.
